Gerstlauer Amusement Rides to deliver a unique

launch coaster at Tripsdrill : Karacho

Update : 15/02/13 - 16h01 Published by François Mayné the 14 February 2013, New.
The small German amusement park Erlebnispark Tripsdrill, located in Cleebronn in the Lander of Baden-Württemberg, will invest this year more than €7 million (approx $9.3 million) for the addition of a launch coaster whose design was entrusted to Gerstlauer Amusement Rides.

The German amusement park Erlebnispark Tripsdrill will invest this year more than €7 million for the addition of a launch coaster whose design was entrusted to Gerstlauer Amusement Rides.

Named Karacho, which means ' at full speed'' in German, the project was in the works since four years for the members of the Fischer family, owners of the park, who traveled around the world to test several models of the same type, including in the USA, in the UAE and in Japan. The ride is the biggest investment in Tripsdrill's history.

A part of the roller coaster, which was custom designed to fit on a land of nearly one hectare, will be built underground, and especially the train station and the LSM launch area where trains will accelerate from 0 to 100 kph (approx 62 mph) in 1.6 seconds. The 700-meters (~2.297 feet) long track will be a combination of unique elements in Europe, including 4 inversions, a 30-meters (~98 feet) high Top Hat and a tunnel.

The 700-meters long track will be a combination of unique elements in Europe, including 4 inversions, a 30-meters high Top Hat and a tunnel.A part of the Fischer Family presents a model of Kracho during a press conference held early February.

Gerstlauer Amusement Rides will install a new kind of train with a capacity of 8 passengers (2 rows of 4 seats). "We have developed this new train with a design more open and spacious. It will be our widest vehicle (editor's note: 3.30 meters long and 2.50 meters wide) featuring the biggest running wheels that we ever used," said Andreas Simonis, Head of Project Planning and Development at Gerstlauer Amusement Rides. There will be a total of 4 trains for an expected capacity of 960 people per hour.

Tripsdrill has an excellent business relationship with the German manufacturer which has already conducted five projects for the Fischer Family. "We are very proud to be working once again with Tripsdrill," explains Andreas Simonis. "In 1998, we have built for them our very first roller coaster, a Bobsled Coaster named Gsengte Sau'. We have come a long way since seen that Karacho will be our 59th!" Gerstlauer Amusement Rides was also tasked with the realization of the wooden coaster Mammuth in 2008, with the help of its partner Cordes.

Aerial view of Karacho's construction site. The opening is scheduled in June.

Planned for the month of June, Karacho is currently a huge hole of 4 meters where have been already built the foundations of the station and the underground passages, the biggest measuring 145 cubic meters and weighing 350 tons! Started a few months ago, the construction team has already moved 15,100 cubic meters of earth, ie the equivalent of 1,400 trucks.

Much attention has been paid by the Fischer family at the integration of the attraction in the park environment, whose style is rustic and inspired by regional architecture. Next to the ride will also be constructed a shop (with on-ride photos point of sale), a snack bar and toilets.

While waiting for Karacho, Tripsdrill will open on March 23 another novelty 'Gaudi-Viertel', a covered area of 100 sqm (~1.076 sqft) dedicated to children with a playground designed by Prime Play and a kiddie drop tower delivered by Moser Rides.
