Simworx, the UK based 4D effects theatre specialist, has completed the installation of a new, purpose-built theatre at the RAF Museum Cosford in Shropshire, England.
Situated in the venue’s Test Flight Hangar, the new theatre provides visitors with the opportunity to enjoy two different 4D film experiences, with the museum having chosen to show Fly Me to the Moon (produced by nWave Pictures) and Dog Fight – Red Baron alternately throughout the day. Each film lasts approximately seven minutes and both are suitable for guests of all ages.
The new theatre combines stereoscopic, 3D computer animation with the added fourth dimension of dynamic seating and special effects, including seat movement, water spray, leg ticklers and smoke effects. In Fly Me to the Moon, visitors become a member of the crew on board the Apollo 11 space shuttle mission to the moon with a whimsical twist involving three teenage flies, while in Dog Fight – Red Baron, they experience what it was like to be a World War One fighter pilot taking part in a thrilling mid-air combat in a tri-plane aircraft.
This new 4D theatre joins a highly impressive collection of aircraft and other exhibits at the museum and adds another entertaining dimension for all age groups to what the venue has to offer.
Commenting on the attraction, RAF Museum Merchandising Manager, Vinit Mehta said: “We are delighted to add the 4D Experience to our museum. Its cutting-edge 4D technology combined with breathtaking effects will take the motion theatre experience to new heights. Our visitors will be able to reflect everything they would feel in real life without actually crossing that line of being in a theme park ride. It is entertaining yet educational and will provide another aspect to the visitors’ experience. Thoroughly recommended and something that should not be missed on your visit to the museum.”
