The most ambitious theme park and resort project of central Europe, Adventure World Warsaw, has taken a major step during the Euro Attractions Show 2012 with the signing of the first contracts with rides manufacturers MACK Rides and Vekoma Rides Manufacturing. During this official act was also announced the start of construction will the filling of the application for the building permit with the local authorities. The opening of the €620 million (approx $770 million) resort is scheduled for spring 2015.
Supported by a consortium of private and institutional investors grouped in a company named Las Palm, the 230 hectares site (approx 568 acres) will be located in Grodzisk Mazowiecki about 30 kilometers (approx 18.6 miles) from the capital Warsaw and will consist of the largest theme park and indoor waterpark of the region, an entertainment village with restaurants, shops and night-clubs as well as two hotels totaling 800 rooms.
The contract signing took place during a presentation to the press in the presence of Jan Peter Mulder, CEO of Adventure World Warsaw, Henk Roodenburg, CEO of Vekoma Rides Manufacturing and Roland Mack, managing partner of MACK Rides. The Dutch manufacturer will supply at least three roller coasters (a Family Boomerang, a Family Coaster and a Mine Train) while the German will deliver several rides including a Twist'n'Splash family water ride.
Peter Jan Mulder stated “We are thrilled and proud to be associated with these exceptional well known and respected companies and honored to have them on board of Adventure World Warsaw. By having their rides, famous for their quality and safety, positions our project at the same level of other high profile resorts from around the world. I also would like to thank IAAPA for its support during the last 2 years as well as the entire industry.”
"After attending the groundbreaking ceremony this summer, we are very pleased to see that this project really starts," added Christian von Elverfeldt, CEO of MACK Rides. "During the Euro Attractions Show, we negotiated the contract and are now ready to work together."
In backstage, the Dutch company Jora Vision continues its long design work, as explained us its director Jan Maarten de Raad : "More than 30 people are committed to the achievement of this great project. Despite the skepticism of some people, this step of the contracts signing proves that this is serious and that we move forward."
In the coming days, the handover protocol between Las Palm and Imtech Poland – general contractor for the project – will be executed and initial construction work will start including hardening of roads, harvesting of trees and removal of existing buildings. Prior to this, archeological investigations have been conducted on the site.
Adventure World Warsaw theme park will offer about 50 attractions including 24 rides and roller coasters. It will be divided into 6 themed areas which installations of two of them will be fully covered to allow park operations during the harsh winter months.
Other contracts will be signed in the coming months with more rides manufacturers including Zamperla, Hafema, ProSlide Technoloy, Zierer and HUSS Park Attractions.
