Movie Park Germany plans to build a roller coaster
The German theme park Movie Park Germany, located in Bottrop not far from Essen, announced plans to build a new roller coaster for 2014. This choice is mainly the result of a survey conducted a few weeks ago with 1,400 visitors who highlighted their great interest for a new thrill ride.
An authorization request was made on May 31 to administrative authorities of the city (Planning Commission and Environmental Protection) to obtain the zoning change of land next to the park entrance. The construction project provides indeed that the future ride structure will be higher than the current limit fixed to 18 meters (~59 ft). The city has agreed to launch a simplified and the local residents will soon be invited to a public session to get more information on the nature of this request.
Park officials said the ride will be 45 meters high (~147.6 ft) and that it will occupy an area of approximately 7,500 sq m (~80 729 sq ft). Moreover, the general manager Wouter Dekkers said: "No decision has yet been taken about the type of roller coaster and the manufacturer. We await the decision of the administration and we will also ensure that we will comply with regulations in terms of noise levels."
Within the Parques Reunidos Group since 2010, Movie Park Germany celebrated last year its fifteenth anniversary with Van Helsing's Factory, an indoor Family Coaster from Gerstlauer Amusement Rides combined with a dark ride . Focusing this season on several renovations and a new dinner-show, the park also renewed the licensing agreement with Nickelodeon in April.
