Avonturenpark Hellendoorn opens Tarantula

Magica

Update : 15:25 Published by François Mayné the 10 May 2012, New.
The Dutch amusement park Avonturenpark Hellendoorn, owned by Looping Group, opens this season a new thrill ride called Tarantula Magica, an Enterprise of German manufacturer Huss Park Attractions.

The ride, which was purchased at Loundoun Castle amusement park (UK), has been completely renovated and decorated with an Aztec theming. The Enterprise operating principle is simple but very effective: a central motor rotates 20 gondolas (for 2 riders seated one behind the other with lap belts) before going up in a vertical position through a hydraulic arm. The gondolas not being welded, they bend gradually outwards as the speed increases with the forces of gravity, and thus perform a looping motion when the arm is in the vertical position. Tarantula Magica is accessible to riders from 120 cm (3 feet 11¼ inches).

Introduced on the attractions industry market in the 70s, the Enterprise is part of the funfairs old classics favorite and has been installed in many european theme parks including Walibi Belgium, Heide Park (Germany) or Thorpe Park (UK). The ride is no longer in the Huss Park Attractions products portfolio, but remains a great addition for families.

This summer, Avonturenpark Hellendoorn will present its traditional stunt show spectacular Excalibur with horses, knights and special effects. The park also launched - and this is a first - a "rain insurance" that runs on the following principle: if it rains more than 4 mm (5⁄32 inch) during an opening day (between 10 am and 4 pm), visitors having subscribed the insurance (for an extra €3) will get a free ticket to return on another date!

Looping Group is a French company formed by H.I.G. Capital Europe associated with Laurent Bruloy. It acquired 7 leisure parks to Compagnie des Alpes in February 2011 including Avonturenpark Hellendoorn, Bagatelle (France) and Pleasurewood Hills (UK).
