Plopsa prepares two new themed areas at

Holiday Park for €9 million investment

Update : 21:14 Published by François Mayné the 16 March 2012, New.

Into the hands of the Belgian group Plopsa since November 2010, the German amusement park Holiday Park will continue in 2012 the integration of Studio 100's characters initiated last season with the additions of Maya the Bee or Tabaluga.

Plopsa has injected more exactly over €9 million, or about 25% of its 2012 investments, for a significant work aiming first to modernize the park - by creating a new entrance area - then to extend it with the addition of a new outdoor themed area called Majaland.

The new entrance area will change drastically the access to the park that will no longer along a road but directly at the parking lot. Visitors will go through three seperate zones around a ''fantasy'' themed environment which is customary at Plopsa parks. They will first arrive in front of the gates with bridges crossing a rive, a fountain, ribbons and sculptures. They will then enter into the park through a semicircle structure with a majestic arch in the middle. Finally, they will cross a covered walkway surrounded by a forest village where they will find services, food venues and retail shops.

So now, visitors will arrive directly at the dancing fountains square located in front of the drop tower where was the monorail "Tower of Flowers" until 2010. This new configuration has resulted in the removal of Tanzender Pavilion (opened in 1994) and the relocation of Balloon Race (opened in 1993) which will replace another ride removed: City Jet.

Holiday Park will welcome visitors at a brand new entrance areaA majestic arch will be the center piece of the new entrance area. The new entrance area will be finished for the opening of the park on March 31. Majaland will resume the elements that made the success of the covered area with the same name that opened last year in Plopsaland De Panne in Belgium: the universe of Maya the Bee, family attractions and a colorful theme inspired by a flowered garden.

The area will offer a total of 11 attractions including 4 new ones: Majas Blütensplash, Verrückter Baum, Schmetterlingsflug and Plitsch-Platsch. First two will be provided by Zierer Rides and will be similar to those open at Plopsaland: respectively a Flying Fish (the flowers carousel) and a Kontiki (the tree trunk). The third one, Schmetterlingsflug, will be a Magic Bikes of Zamperla Rides with a butterflies theming. The fourth at last, Plitsch-Platsch, will be a water playground.

Seven existing attractions will be integrated in the new themed area: Flip, der Grashüpfer (PonyTrekking of Metallbau Emmeln, 2011), Majas Blumenturm (Family Freefall Tower of Zierer Rides, 2011), Herr Frosch (Jump Around of Zamperla Rides, 2011), Holly's Minicars (kiddie bumpercars) as well as 3 Zamperla rides installed in 2004 : Holly's Honigtöpfchen (Mini Tea Cup), Miss Dolly’s Hummeltanz (Mini Jet) et Rob´s Piratenflossfahrt (Mini Round Ride).

Majaland will be an outdoor themed area with 11 attractions around Maya the Bee...4 attractions will be new, among them a Zierer Flying Fish carousel (here at Plopsaland De Panne)Other new ride will be a Zierer Kontiki (here at Plopsaland De Panne)Other new ride will be a Zierer Kontiki (here at Plopsaland De Panne)

The whole theming work of Majaland and of the new entrance area has been entrusted to the Spanish company Theming and Animatronics Industries (TAA) which had already worked last year on the facade of Mayaland building at Plopsaland.
Plopsa also continues the harmonization of Holiday Park with the four other parks of the group by launching this season a new logo (with the mention Plopsa) and a new park map for visitors. We note however that the original park's mascot, Holly, will still be present for meet & greets.

Besides the new entrance area and Majaland, the park will also offer visitors to discover new stagings for the aquatic stunt show (Klappe, Action: Hollywood Spectacular) and for the exotic animals show (Sapa Inka). The park will also organize evening events this summer (with television series The House Anubis) and the traditional Halloween event in October.

Holiday Park, formerly owned by the Schneider family, opened in 1971 and is internationally recognized for its hypercoaster Expedition Ge Force which is quoted regularly since 2001 as one of the best roller coasters in the world. The park is located in Haßloch in the southwest of the country, nearby the French border.
