Premier Rides selected as the supplier of Six Flags
Discovery Kingdom’s newest roller coaster
Update : 16/12/11 - 16h58Published by François Mayné the 15 December 2011, New.
Premier Rides is announcing it has been selected to design and manufacture the newest high-thrill “SUPERMAN Ultimate Flight” roller coaster for Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, California (USA). The ride, created in a partnership between the park and the manufacturer, is slated to open in the spring of 2012.
The custom layout, a one-of-a-kind Launch Coaster, will feature the tallest inversion west of the Mississippi and will rank alongside the tallest coaster inversions in the world. At 45 meters high (150 feet), riders will experience lightning speeds of 100 kilometers per hour (62 miles per hour), with two upside-down twists and two vertical rolls over a track length of 263 meters (863 feet).
Brightly painted in a vibrant blue, red, and yellow, the steel coaster will be visible from California’s Highway 37 and beyond from its location on the eastern side of the park. Construction will start in early 2012.
As Discovery Kingdom’s first DC Comics-themed ride, the new addition is the perfect complement to the park’s unique collection of marine life, wildlife and wild rides. Thrill rides include the aforementioned Medusa, along with Kong, Roar, Vertical Velocity and Boomerang, and SUPERMAN Ultimate Flight’s addition solidifies Discovery Kingdom’s standing as Northern California’s best place to experience thrills of all kinds.
“We’re excited to bring this caliber of ride to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom,” said Park President Dale Kaetzel. “We believe that Premier Rides’ new attraction will satisfy even the most fearless thrill-seekers, and then some.”
Jim Seay, president of Premier Rides, commented, “We are very pleased to have been selected to design and build this one-of-a-kind attraction and are honored to once again be a part of Six Flags’ formula for success.”
