IAAPA Attractions Expo 2013 debuts next week

in Orlando

Update : 15:46 Published by François Mayné the 10 November 2013, Event.
World theme park capital Orlando is about to welcome the global attractions industry for the 2013 edition of IAAPA Attractions Expo, the annual conference and trade show of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions.

IAAPA Attractions Expo 2013 to kick off next week in Orlando.More than 26,000 buyers and sellers from around the world will gather at the Orange County Convention Center from November 18 to 22 for a full week of business opportunities, networking events, and educational experiences. “IAAPA Attractions Expo provides a unique opportunity to connect innovators and inventors with the decision makers of the worldwide attractions industry,” said IAAPA President and CEO Paul Noland. “Relationships that begin on the IAAPA Attractions Expo trade show floor have the potential to change businesses and our industry forever.”

The event promises once again to be a success as IAAPA officials announced that the exhibit space will be the largest in 10 years. 1,100 companies have signed up to showcase their know-how in 135 product categories on more than 522,000 square feet (about 48,500 square meters), the size of approximately 13 football fields. The indoor show floor is completely sold out while the outdoor exhibit space will be the largest in the show's history. More than 10% of the companies are lined up to make their debut at the first-time exhibitors pavilion. “Wear your comfortable shoes,” advises Paul Noland. “There are too many business-building ideas to count in the nine miles of aisles!

Interested attendees will take advantage of one of the seven guided trade show vendor tours proposed by IAAPA in areas such as theming and design, water attractions, technology or point-of-sale systems. Complimentary computer stations and a meeting space will be also available to all attendees during trade show hours.

This year's Expo will offer more than 80 educational seminars, roundtable discussions, behind-the-scenes tours, daylong institutes, and half-day symposiums to give attendees the knowledge they need to keep up in the rapidly changing global attractions industry. “IAAPA Attractions Expo 2013 features first-hand learning and networking opportunities that are unmatched in our industry,” adds Paul Noland. “The information gained and relationships established at the Expo can be game changing for a company, and they have the potential to shape the future of the attractions business.

Education sessions will cover a range of the industry’s most in-demand topics, including communications and public relations, entertainment, facility operations and emergency preparedness, finance and information technology, food and beverage, games, human resources, marketing, retail merchandising, safety, and more. Four comprehensive institutes and two symposiums catering to specific interests in the attractions industry are also scheduled during the week. Institutes include the 'IAAPA Institute for Attractions Managers', a management development program for up-and-coming industry professionals and 'Project Planning for the Attractions Industry', a highly interactive workshop that provides guidance on how to manage a project from start to finish.

Obviously, educational opportunities won't be limited to the confines of the Orange County Convention Center. IAAPA will offer guided, behind-the-scenes tours of six premier Orlando-area attractions throughout the week including at Epcot, Disney’s Blizzard Beach, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Fun Spot America and LEGOLAND Florida.

The Expo will also offer a wide variety of networking opportunities at breakfasts, lunches, and receptions held throughout the week. Some events are designed for participants from a specific region of the world, such as the Canadian and Asia-Pacific breakfasts, the Latin American Conference and Lunch, and the European Reception. Other events are specific to constituencies, including FECs, parks and attractions, water parks, carnivals and showmen, museums and science centers, young professionals, and more.

In addition, there will be several opportunities to network with a broad-range of attractions industry professionals, such as IAAPA’s Lunch and Learn featuring George Kalogridis, president of Walt Disney World; the Opening Reception; the GM and Owners’ Breakfast featuring Matt Ouimet, president and CEO of Cedar Fair Entertainment; and IAAPA Celebrates at SeaWorld Orlando, which will feature SeaWorld Orlando’s newest attraction, 'Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin'.

NewsParcs will cover the four days of the trade show on Twitter (@NewsParcs) using the hashtag #IAAPA.
