Zamperla

IAAPA Expo booth #2025

Zamperla seized the opportunity at the Euro Attractions Show in Paris to highlight some of its projects recently completed all over Europe. The Italian manufacturer particularly emphasized the popularity of its numerous family rides within the French market, a "success formula" which we will cover in more detail in a forthcoming article.

The company has also underlined its successful long-standing business relationship with the UK-based amusement park Flamingo Land (Malton, North Yorkshire) for which it has supplied new attractions – including a 'Balloon Race', a 'Rockin'Tug' and a 'Mega Disk'O' – for the third year in a row.

After the purchase in 2010 of a custom-built 'Air Force 5' suspended coaster, the park's owners have decided to entrust again Zamperla with two additional roller coaster projects for the 2013 season. The company installed firstly its 'Volare' compact flying coaster (second model to open in Europe) with an upgraded breaking system, the classic brakes being replaced by magnetic brakes. Flamingo Land also ordered a 175-meter / 574-feet long 'Junior Twister Coaster' for a new dinosaur themed area. The ride features spinning vehicles (one single train with four cars, each accommodating four passengers) which are designed as dinosaur eggs. Finally, the park purchased a 'Magic Bikes' family attraction, a product which continues to prove to be very popular throughout the world according to the company.

Zamperla supplied an Air Race ride at Tivoli in Denmark. In Denmark, Zamperla has also supplied two attractions on behalf of the amusement park Tivoli in Copenhagen, including one of the newest concept developed by the manufacturer: 'Air Race' (model 6.4). Accommodating 24 riders in six four-seater gondolas, the ride – named 'Aquila' by the park – combines a main rotation motion (up to 6rpm) with a motor-driven rotation of the arms, allowing the gondolas to swing from one side to another up to doing a complete rotation. “Our artistic department worked closely with the designers of Tivoli to develop state-of-the-art attractions. Air Race is the centerpiece of the new area with its majestic central structure and the eagle themed vehicles,” said Marco Mazzuchi, Zamperla Marketing Manager.“

A smaller transportable version of Air Race will be again showcased by Zamperla at the upcoming IAAPA Attractions Expo in Orlando.

Simworx

IAAPA Expo booth #2873

Simworx reports that it has engineered a new dynamic simulation attraction named Immersive Tunnel, a ride that features tram-styled simulator platforms for both entertainment and educational purposes.

Simworx introduces a new dynamic simulation attraction: Immersive Tunnel. The 'Immersive Tunnel' is available as a static installation or with the tram simulators positioned upon a track system that transports the passengers into the show area. “Guests board the trams for an experience that takes them on a fun-filled journey that assaults the senses in many different ways – with physical platform drops, dynamic motion, blasts of air, water spray, vibrations, dramatic lighting effects, surround sound and 3D film projected to the front and both sides of the tram. All the various elements and effects combine to provide a hugely realistic experience,” explained Simworx.

Each tram unit of 30 seats – which are combined for larger capacity attractions – sits upon a 3 DOF motion base and is surrounded by 360 degree film projection. A wide range of different themes can be incorporated into the attraction, depending on the venue and the clients' needs.

The Immersive Tunnel brings yet another simulation experience to our growing product range allowing us to offer customers an even wider choice when it comes to this type of attraction,” said Simworx Managing Director Terry Monkton. “It places the guest in a unique environment and totally immerses them in the experience, something which operators are increasingly looking for. We can customize the attraction for specific themes and requirements and I’m sure it’s going to be a big success for us and those clients who add it to their venues.”
