Triotech

EAS booth #1519

Cedar Fair's property Canada's Wonderland in Ontario has announced the opening in spring 2014 of a new interactive 4-D dark ride: Wonder Mountain's Guardian.

Triotech to supply a new interactive 4-D dark ride at Canada's Wonderland. The multi-million dollar project has been entrusted to Montreal based manufacturer of interactive attractions Triotech which will supply its brand new concept 'IDR' (which stands for Interactive Dark Ride). The 305-meter/1,000-feet long track will be built inside the park's iconic artificial mountain and will include five different scenes of interactive shootings on giant screens with 3-D projections and special effects. Riders will board large roving vehicles equipped with a rotating motion platform, Triotech's laser guns and individual scoring screens. According to the company, the targeting system on real time computer graphics will be the world's fastest.

"This new dark ride at Canada's Wonderland will be a one of a kind, never seen before attraction." said Ernest Yale, President and CEO of Triotech. "It will bring the best elements of the physical, virtual and multi-sensory world. All this combined in a fully immersive and interactive experience."

The storyline and theming of Wonder Mountain's Guardian will be based on an adventurous quest through an underground world inhabited by mythical creatures living within the mountain. "We felt the timing was right to enter the massive caverns of Wonder Mountain and provide our guests with a new dimension of thrills." said Norm Pirtovshek, General Manager, Canada's Wonderland. "Thrill seekers from all generations will be amazed by the combination of unique ride thrills and immersive 4-D interactive action as they compete for ride supremacy."

ProSlide Technology

EAS booth #1537

The water slide manufacturer ProSlide Technology has launched this year a new compact version of its patented TornadoWAVE to its range of PIPEline products. The PIPElineWAVE ride is especially designed for single or 2-person tubes. Just like the larger version, it features an open-air curved-wall section in which riders feel a long hang time and zero g-forces before dropping back down into a narrow out-run. Custom-designed depending on customer's needs, the slide also includes enclosed or open-air sections with banked curves, dips and turns.

ProSlide introduces a new compact version of its popular TornadoWAVE.Our new PIPElineWAVE slides are based on the ProSlide TORNADO, winner of IAAPA's Industry Impact Award and many Best New Ride Awards. They are an innovation breakthrough over the wide, flat walls of older rides which are more expensive to produce; have a slower, straight up-and-back-down ride path; and can't deliver a safely consistent exit.” commented ProSlide. “A predictable ride path means there's no need for the wide walls of previous wall-style rides. Not only will the PIPElineWAVE fit into tighter spaces, it also uses less fiberglass and steel than flat-wall rides.”

ProSlide reports the opening of four PIPElineWAVE installations that are part of larger slides complexes at Holiday World & Splashin' Safari (Indiana, USA), Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Arlington (Texas, USA), White Water Bay (Oklahoma, USA) and Grand Sight (China). “It's the perfect attraction for a custom complex, where several rides are centralized on one tower to increase capacity even more as well as save money and space.” said the company.

KMG

EAS booth #1229

Dutch manufacturer’s factory of transportable amusement rides KMG currently is operating at full capacity with a production planning fully booked until Spring 2015.

KMG has a production planning booked until Spring 2015. Photo: a Sicko ride delivered in Switzerland.KMG's Sales Manager Peter Theunisz explains that the most requested rides at the moment are the 'Freak Out' and the 'Speed', especially for their customers within the United States, a market in which the company is growing a lot. Late June, a first Freak Out was delivered to Frazier Shows (Arizona) with a complete new color design for the US. while three additional are scheduled for a delivery end of 2013 on behalf of Alpine Amusements (Illinois), Butler Amusements (California) and All Around Amusements (Ilinois).

Finally, Fiesta Shows (New England) took delivery a few weeks ago of a Speed, a 36-meter/118 feet high rotating arm going up to 13 rpm with gondolas at the ends.

KMG is also busy with orders coming from Australia. The company is finishing another Speed ride for Golden Way Amusements (their second model) and another Freak Out for B&B Rides and Games with new style of lap bars. At the end of 2014 the production of a newly designed 'Discovery' ride will start (gondola mounted between two independent revolving arms), also for an Aussie customer.

At last, KMG delivered this summer a new model of its newest amusement ride 'Sicko' on behalf of Swiss showmen H.P. Maier, already the owner of 9 other KMG rides. The main arm of Sicko (V-shaped) swings at a maximum angle of 120°, a pendulum motion combined with the rotation of the smaller arms with rotating gondolas at their ends creating an extra third motion (read more).

Magic Memories

IAAPA Expo booth #3263

Global guest photography provider Magic Memories has entered a four year development plan with Oakwood Theme Park in Wales, a partnership that marks the company’s first foray into the amusement park sector in Europe.

Magic Memories supplied on-ride photo system for five attractions, using the proven platform from theme park imaging specialist Jackson Digital Imaging (JDI) that the company acquired in 2011. They also have redesigned all ride photo outlets. Two brand new ride photo opportunities were created and the best-in-market camera technology was utilized to ensure pin sharp photography. Specific camera angles were used which allow the capture of the same ride vehicle several times, enabling guests to choose a particular image or to crop images so that they don’t include ‘unknown’ fellow riders.

Magic Memories entered a four year development plan with Oakwood Theme Park in Wales.According to Oakwood’s General Manager Dominic Jones. “The finished product has been dramatically improved and our customers are showing their appreciation with average spends up over 60 per cent in June 2013 compared to the same period last year.”

We are delighted with the end result,” stated Magic Memories European Operations Director Paul Hammond. “We have installed high quality cameras, used on challenging angles, with the finished result being very impressive. And the customer has the ability to choose what the composition of the photo is, no matter how large or small the group – that is a clever innovation and one the Oakwood visitors are obviously agreeing with.”
