The manufacturer of water slides and attractions Polin reports the opening of a new indoor water park it has designed in Ryazan, Russia. Named Gorki Waterpark, the facility is part of a large family entertainment resort (Oka Gemchugina) which features an hotel, a spa and several restaurants.
The 7,200 square meters (approx 77,500 square feet) complex can accommodated 1,000 guests per day and is divided into two levels. The upper floor propose activities for families (including a small pool with kiddie slides, fountains and showers) while the main level features slides and attractions mainly for adults. Among those, Polin has supplied a Kamikaze (a 30-m/94.4-ft high speed slide with drops), a Space Hole (an enclosed body slide ending with a bowl), a Magic Hole (an enclosed raft slide), a wave pool and a lazy river.
"Our engineers developed an ingenious design that placed the majority of the slides' pathways outside the building," explains Selim Doguoglu, head of Polin's Russian office. “Guests enter the slides from inside the facility, then zip through tunnels on the building's exterior. They twist and turn through adrenalin-pumping passages before looping back into the building for a splash down inside. By extending the slides outside, we had more room on the interior to include a wider variety of attractions. No matter what their mood, I know guests at Gorki Waterpark will find a slide that fits their interests."
The project is a private-public partnership which is part of a federal program launched to encourage the growth of domestic tourism in the region. A Family Entertainment Center is also scheduled to open within the resort by the end of the year.
Polin will be exhibiting in the upcoming RAAPA annual trade show in Moscow, March 20-22, 2013 (booth no A3/2). For more information about the company, please read our previous articles (see below) or visit www.polin.com.tr
