From Nov. 12 through Nov. 16, the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) will welcome an estimated 25,000 attendees and 1,100 exhibiting companies to IAAPA Attractions Expo 2012 annual conference and trade show at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. Early registration is now open for the event, which will include Jim Reid-Anderson, chairman, president and CEO of Six Flags Entertainment Corporation, as the keynote speaker of the GM and Owners’ breakfast on Wednesday, Nov. 14.
Throughout the week, attractions industry professionals will learn about current industry issues and trends, network with their peers, and hear from knowledgeable guest speakers. On the trade show floor, attendees will have the chance to test, try, and buy newly available foods and beverages, rides (wet and dry), games, inflatables, novelties, souvenirs, and more.
Terry Prather, president of SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment Orlando, encourages his staff to attend IAAPA Attractions Expo, “because you always get that one idea that you bring back to the table,” he said. “And some of those ideas are really business changing.”
Highlights of the five-day event include more than 80 education sessions covering attractions industry topics such as entertainment, facility operations, finance, government relations, safety, human resources, communications and public relations, marketing, and technology; a Lunch and Learn presentation on Monday, Nov. 12 by Tom Mehrmann, CEO of Ocean Park Hong Kong; the Kickoff Event, Tuesday, Nov. 13; the GM and Owners’ Breakfast, Wednesday, Nov. 14; a facility tour of SeaWorld Turtle Trek, Wednesday, Nov. 14; a facility tour of Legoland Florida, Thursday, Nov. 15; and IAAPA Celebrates at Universal Studios Florida, Thursday, Nov. 15.
Some select events, such as facility tours and the GM and Owners’ Breakfast require an entrance fee in addition to general admission to the Expo. To ensure admittance to these more popular, limited-attendance events, IAAPA urges attendees to register for IAAPA Attractions Expo 2012 early and secure a ticket.
On-site registration for IAAPA Attractions Expo 2012 costs $368 (€291). Those who take advantage of early registration before Sept. 19 will receive a “super saver” rate of $218 (€172), a savings of 40 percent over on-site registration. IAAPA members will receive additional discounts and can register for $109 (€86) before Sept. 19 or $184 (€145) on site. Additional details about pricing and registration are available at www.iaapa.org.
