The operator of theme parks Plopsa Group stated that it was satisfied with the attendance levels during the summer season of its two key properties in Belgium.
Despite rather unfavorable weather conditions, especially during the first weeks of July, Plopsaland De Panne nonetheless achieved the second best summer of its history with 520,000 visitors, a figure slightly down 6% compared to the year 2011 which broke all records with the opening of the indoor themed area Mayaland.
"Autumn in Plopsaland De Panne looks promising with a busy schedule of events like Halloween which is becoming increasingly popular with our visitors. Plopsaland Winter - our event during the Christmas holidays - is also a considerable event for the activity of our the park. Visitors can meet Santa, enjoy shows, entertainments and additional attractions, " said Plopsaland De Panne General Manager, Wim Wauters.
In the southeast of the country, Plopsa Coo has also performed well during the summer season. "We had 5% more visitors than last year, ie a total of 216,000," said Jean-Luc Bertrand, the General Manager of the park. "Our new Spinning Coaster Vicky The Ride that we opened in 2011 still has a lot of success and continues to attract those seeking an orginal family experience, not to mention our various rides and the unique green surrounding of the site."
Plopsa Group did not give details on the attendance level of Plopsa Indoor Hasselt, its third location in Belgium. Last year, the indoor amusement park had a record summer with 25% more visitors... there again due to the bad weather conditions.
After focusing on its latest acquisition in Germany, Holiday Park, the Plopsa Group is actively preparing for the future development of its properties in Belgium, and in particular Plopsaland De Panne where two major projects are underway: an aquatic center and a themed hotel whose openings are scheduled in 2013-2014.
