RGH Themed Entertainment unveils details about a
future attraction of The Red Sea Astrium in Jordan
RGH Themed Entertainment recently unveiled details of one of the attractions now in development for the future resort The Red Sea Astrium in Aqaba, Jordan, a huge project of $1.5 billion (€1.2 billion) which the company is in charge of management and artistic design.
Wonders! will be a panoramic flight simulator attraction which implementation was entrusted to Vekoma Rides Manufacturing, one of the largest rides manufacturers in the world. The Dutch company will supply the I-ride model, ie a complex of motion platforms suspended to hydraulic cylinders and installed on several floors in front of a giant spherical screen.
This system, designed by BROGENT Technologies, allows the motion platforms to move on six different axes (heave, Sway, Surge, pitch, roll and yaw) for a flight experience as faithful as possible. Some 4D effects such as fog or wind will also be added for even greater immersion.
The storyline of Wonders! will take visitors for a time travel at the discovery of the wonders of the world in their prime (such as the Lighthouse of Alexandria, Machu Picchu, the city of Petra or the Acropolis) thanks to custom flying machines built by an innovative airline company called AirWonders!
RGH will be in charge of all media content for this attraction and states that there will be several scenes to be presented randomly, ensuring visitors a different experience at every ride.
“The Wonders! ride is a thrilling, unpredictable journey to the ancient past that gives riders an incredible experience of visiting the Wonders of the World as they were meant to be seen,” said Lenny Larsen, Director of Themed Entertainment at RGH. “By immersing the guests into the actual times and places of ancient civilizations they can fully appreciate these man-made wonders.”
“The Wonders! attraction is the perfect addition to the Old Waterfront section of the resort. It provides a themed centerpiece of old-world exploration and fascination. What’s more, it brings the resort full circle: The Red Sea Astrarium brings the world together, then Wonders! sends people out into the world again,” said RGH CEO Randa Ayoubi.
Situated along the Gulf of Aqaba, The Red Sea Astrium will be a massive tourist complex of 75 hectares (185 acres) where one will find 4 luxury hotels, a botanical garden and a large portfolio of attractions, entertainment, restaurants and shops. While mostof the attractions will focus on historical or cultural themes, the resort will also host a Star Trek experience created in collaboration with Paramount Parks & Recreation and CBS Consumer Products.
RGH Themed Entertainment is a division of Rubicon Group Holding, the developer of the entire project which opening is scheduled for 2014.
