The International Board of the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) unanimously elected Christine Kerr, Vice President of BaAM Productions, Toronto, to step into the presidency later this year. Kerr will succeed sitting president Rick Rothschild of FAR Out! Creative Direction when Rothschild's second 1-year term completes in November. The formal transfer of power will take place at the annual TEA membership meeting in Orlando, during the IAAPA Attractions Expo.
Primary on Kerr's agenda for TEA, an international nonprofit now rounding out its 20th anniversary year, are a leadership search to find a successor to executive director Gene Jeffers who has announced plans to retire after more than a decade of service; growing the association's NextGen outreach and mentoring initiative for students and recent grads entering the attractions industry; and helping position TEA to serve an increasingly global industry, especially the rapidly growing Asian sector.
"I am delighted to welcome Christine Kerr as the next president of the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA)," says Rick Rothschild. "As an International Board member, she has served the association in numerous capacities, most recently as Vice President during my terms as President. She is passionate about our association, she is respected in our industry and she is dedicated to leading us through our pending management transition with a vision for growth and increasing value for our membership. I look forward to working with Christine over these next few months and to placing the gavel into her most capable hands come November."
Christine Kerr says, “The opportunities for our members to share their knowledge and learn from each other grows every year as the lines that once defined our industry continue to expand, and the composition of our membership likewise becomes more diverse. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborate with Gene Jeffers and the TEA staff, along with Rick and my colleagues on the International Board, to move forward a substantial agenda of exciting initiatives.”
Christine Kerr is Vice President of BaAM Productions, a Toronto-based design, project management and event management company that creates projects ranging from cultural exhibitions to major league sports extravaganzas. Her career has included many years leading theme park entertainment and operations teams in Europe, the US and Canada.
She has been active within TEA since 2002; first as a member of the Eastern Division Board of Directors, and then serving as its President for 3 years. Kerr was elected to the TEA International Board of Directors in 2008 and has served as a Vice President for the past 4 years. In addition to her leadership role in the attractions industry, she is an active volunteer and leader in her community including a term as a member of her local Cultural Advisory Committee, and 6 years as a member of the Board of Directors for the Royal Botanical Gardens, including 2 years as Vice Chair.
TEA is currently preparing its annual design conference SATE to be held for the first time at Disneyland Paris (France) September 19-21. For more details about this event, please visit our newsfeed or click one of the related articles below.
