The animation studio DreamWorks along with the promoter Triple Five announced their plans to create an indoor amusement park at American Dream Meadowlands, a retail and entertainment complex located nearby New York City in New Jersey USA.
This project will be the first North American theme park to exclusively feature DreamWorks characters from the company's blockbuster films including Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon and Puss in Boots.
Currently undergoing transformation, American Dream at Meadowlands will be in late 2013 one of the World's largest mall offering a wide range of leisure and entertainment activites such as the Mall of America in Minnesota, the current largest complex of this type in US which is also owned and developed by Triple Five.
As a full entertainment destination, American Dream will reach an area of about 70 hectares (7,5 million sqf) for an investment of $3.7 billion (approx €3 billion) and an expected annual attendance of more than 55 million visitors.
Besides the indoor amusement park, American Dream Meadowlands will also offer an indoor water park, a ice skating rink, several theaters and the first US indoor ski park along with nearly 1.7 million square feet (16 hectares) of retail space and 150,000 square feet (1.4 hectare) of fine dining and restaurants.
"American Dream at Meadowlands is poised to become a one-of-a-kind retail and entertainment destination in North America. We look forward to working with Triple Five Worldwide to incorporate DreamWorks Animation characters, storytelling and technology into a unique and innovative family entertainment experience at the venue," said Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO, DreamWorks Animation.
"American Dream at Meadowlands is working with the most creative minds in the entertainment business," said Don Ghermezian, President, Triple Five Worldwide. "The theme park will have direct input from the creative talents behind the films to create a park experience that will attract a global market."
