The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) organizes this week in Hong Kong the Asian Attractions Expo 2012 (AAE), the largest conference and trade show for the attractions industry in Asia. The event is held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) till this Thursday June 8.
More than 4,500 professionals from 40 countries are expected to gather from tomorrow in the alleys of the trade show which also features a full program of conferences on various topics as well as numerous special events including two evening parties and two Leadership Breakfasts (with for keynote speakers the Vice President of OCT Parks China, Wu Siyuan, and the CEO of Hong Kong Disneyland, Andrew Kam).
The 6,000 square meters exhibition space (which is sold out) showcases approximatively 275 companies from around the world representing 100 categories of products and services (including amusement and theme park rides; architectural and design services; coin-operated games, skill games, and redemption prizes) for amusement parks, waterparks, family entertainment centers, fairgrounds, aquariums, zoos, resorts and museums.
The major European manufacturers are present including ABC Rides Switzerland (Booth 2105), Aerophile (booth 629), Alterface (booth 1028), Bolliger & Mabillard (booth 105), Intamin Amusement Rides (booth 325), Interlink (stand 1126), LoQ (booth 715), Mack Rides (booth 2124), Maurer Rides (booth 304), nWaves Pictures (Booth 1024), Polin (booth 725), Preston & Barbieri (booth 1018), Theming and Animatronics Industries (TAA ) (booth 114), Van Egdom (booth 1206), Vekoma Rides (booth 625), Zamperla (booth 801) and Zierer (booth 833).
The Asian attractions market offers many opportunities as it is now the most dynamic in the world. The TEA / AECOM Global Attractions Attendance Report published a few days ago has indeed shown that the top 20 amusement parks in Asia have welcomed more than 105 million visitors in 2011, up almost 10% compared to 2010. An attendance level becoming closer to the top 20 US amusement parks while experts expect to see Asia as the market reference within a few years.
“IAAPA’s Asian Attractions Expo is the attractions industry’s one event in Asia that offers participants countless sophisticated learning opportunities combined with events designed to connect industry professionals,” said Chip Cleary, president and CEO of IAAPA.
