Plopsaland De Panne welcomes its 10 millionth

visitor!

Update : 18:34 Published by François Mayné the 3 April 2012, Corporate.
While the 2012 season of Plopsaland De Panne just started this Sunday with the Easter holidays in Belgium, the park yesterday welcomed its 10 millionth visitor since 2000, the year when Studio 100 has replaced the former Meli Park.

A lucky family was greeted in the morning by the Plopsa Parks Chief Operating Steve Van den Kerkhof, the General Manager of Plopsaland De Panne Wim Wauters and the co-founder of Studio 100, Gert Verhulst. The character of Kabouter Plop was also present to give them some gifts.

On this occasion, Gert Verhulst said: "When we started with Samson en Gert, I never imagined it would be such a success! We already welcome our 10 millionth visitors in our theme park, it's really amazing!"

With 1,245,000 visitors in 2011 (up 10% compared to 2010), Plopsaland De Panne confirmed its position as the first theme park in Belgium. The Plopsa Group, which owns and manages five amusement parks in Europe, invests this year nearly €35 million (about $46 million) of which 25 million will be devoted to further development of the park, including a 80-room hotel and a waterpark with openings scheduled by 2013-2014.
