The developer of Adventure World Warsaw, Las Palm, announced in December that it plans to build a similar touristic complex in Abu Dhabi, UAE for 2015-2016.
“The park will be developed in parallel to the investment in Poland, but the Adventure World Warsaw will be the first of them to be opened” stated- Peter Mulder, CEO of Las Palm. “The concept of a family park, which we created jointly with our partners – Jora Vision, AGS, Imtech, Vekoma – has a huge potential. In Abu-Dhabi it will be supplemented with elements of local culture and history, boosting the economy and existing tourism of Abu Dhabi, creating new jobs, and attracting even more tourists each year ”
Just like in Poland, the resort will feature a similar theme park (5 themed areas, about 25 rides), an entertainment center with cinemas, restaurants and shops, hotels and a waterpark.” Currently we are at the stage of securing the land with the area of approximately 80 hectare / 197 acres. We have encountered full resolve on the part of Abu-Dhabi to carry the investment into effect ” said Mulder.
Scheduled to open in Spring 2014, Adventure World Warsaw will cover the area of approximately 240 hectares (590 acres) at 30-minutes travelling distance from Warsaw, in the city of Grodzisk Mazowiecki. Las Palm has already invested over € 11 million on works related to the development of the park. , “We are expecting the decision changing the land status from agricultural to development one to be issued in Spring” said Peter Mulder. Once the administrative procedures are completed, the company plans to acquire this land in June, and begin earthworks in July.
Las Palm also appointed the Executive Managing Director, Steven Shaiken, and the Chief Financial Officer, Ewa Woroszył, of Adventure World Warsaw. Sheiken has over 40-years of experience including the position of Vice President at Universal Parks & Resorts from 1999 to 2005. He will be responsible for overall coordination of the project, including the operational organization. He declared : “I consider my participation in such a grand project related to Poland as an exceptional honour and an extremely inspiring professional challenge. In two years time, when we open the park, we will begin a new chapter in the history of this country ”. Ewa Woroszył, who has been the Director at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Dubai for many years, has more than 10 years of experience in managerial level.
