Disney California Adventure ready to open Cars Land

and Buena Vista Street on June 15

Disneyland Resort announced a few days ago that the new Cars Land themed area will officially open to the public on June 15, along with the Buena Vista Street and the Carthay Circle Theater.

This opening will complete the huge $1.1 billion five-years expansion plan that already transformed the park with new additions such as Toy Story Mania and The Little Mermaid - Ariel’s Undersea Adventure dark rides, or World of Color night show. Not to mention the numerous theming enhancements, re-themed attractions (such as Mulholland Madness which became Goofy's Sky School), the removal of Maliboomer tower ride and new restaurants.

On approx 5 hectares / 12 acres, Cars Land will immerse visitors into the world of the Disney / Pixar blockbuster "Cars" with what should be one of the finest achievements of the Walt Disney Imagineering : the town of Radiator Springs and the "Ornament Valley" rocky mountains surrounding it.

Cars Land will feature three family attractions including one of the largest and most elaborate attractions ever created for a Disney park, Radiator Springs Racers , which will take visitors for a wild run through "Ornament Valley" and a dark ride. They will also enjoy Luigi’s Flying Tires (a gliding on air), Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree (similar to Cars Quatre Roues Rallye at Walt Disney Studios Park, France) as well as “Cars”-themed dining and shopping locations such as Flo’s V8 Café, Ramone’s House of Body Art and Radiator Springs Curios.

Starting June 15, visitors will enter Disney California Adventure along a brand new themed area, Buena Vista Street. This place that will transport them to 1920s Los Angeles, an era when Walt Disney arrived in California. The street will feature an attraction, Red Car Trolleys, inspired by the transportation system that once served Southern California, and the Carthay Circle Theatre, modeled after the site of the 1937 world premiere of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" where there will be a lounge and a restaurant : Carthay Circle Restaurant.

This summer, the park will also launch a new event (Mad T Party) an open a new food venue at Pacific Wharf (Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop). Pixar Play Parade will also return.

To accommodate a media preview and make final preparations for the debuts of Cars Land and Buena Vista Street, Disney California Adventure will be closed June 14.
