Angry Birds landing soon in Särkänniemi

The Finnish amusement park Särkänniemi will open this summer a new themed area inspired by the crazy world of Angry Birds, a game originally developed for mobile phones whose popularity peaked with several million downloads in the world.

Angry Birds Land will offer several ride, amusement games and entertainment for children and families. It will be designed in cooperation with Särkänniemi’s team, Angry Birds' developper Rovio Entertainment and BDR Design, an internationally‐known entertainment design company that has worked for several amusement parks around the world including with Six Flags, Cedar Fair or Dollywood.

"Särkänniemi, in cooperation with Rovaniemi playground manufacturer Lappset Group and world´s leading theme park manufacturers, will offer a delightful Angry Birds experience for the whole family”, reveals Harri Koponen, Rovio´s EVP Lisensing and Merchandising.

”We wanted to create a unique themed area and associate it with a strong and well‐known brand”, says Miikka Seppälä, CEO of Särkänniemi. ”The Angry Birds characters were born in Finland but known worldwide by people of all ages. This is a perfect fit for our Adventure Park. Our goal is to motivate the fans, both adults and children, to exercise and enjoy the outdoors. "

Särkänniemi, whose season opening is scheduled on April 28, will reveal more details about Angry Birds Land next spring.
