Six Flags Great Adventure announces Polin's
King Cobra water slide at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor
Update : 17:52Published by François Mayné the 16 February 2012, New.
Six Flags Great Adventure (Jackson, New Jersey), the America’s largest regional theme park, announced the addition of a Polin Waterparks’ King Cobra waterslide opening at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor in Summer 2012.
Introduced on the market during the IAAPA Asian Attractions Expo 2010, King Cobra is a unique water slide which has been designed to look like a giant cobra with a decoration imitating the colored scales of a snake's skin and a snake's head as the final element of the ride.
King Cobra’s unique configuration enables two tubes to race through a circular path with twists, turns and surprises through enclosed and open sections of the slide at speeds up to 51 kilometers per hour (32 mph). The ride’s finale features a sudden, 8 meters (25-foot) plunge at a 50-degree angle with riders racing until the heart-pounding finish as they appear to be swallowed by the massive mouth of the cobra.
Kubilay Alpdogan, Sales Manager, Polin says: “At Six Flags, together with special effects like fog, sound, and lighting, King Cobra features a custom-designed, themed tower. With so many special features, we expect the ride to be more successful than even anticipated."
“We are thrilled to work with Polin on this landmark project, and are confident that King Cobra’s intense ride experience and unparalleled design will make it our most popular and entertaining attraction,” said Park President John Fitzgerald.
King Cobra’s U.S. Debuts
The King Cobra first came to life in Turkey and Russia. In 2012, the water slide will be installed in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and U.S.A. with five other contracts now finalized that Polin will announce at a later date.
“We are very excited about King Cobra’s first U.S. installation. Since its launch, King Cobra has been greatly anticipated in the U.S. The question was who would be the first to have this unique ride in the U.S. We are so glad and proud that it is Six Flags Great Adventure,” says Sohret Pakis, Marketing Manager, Polin.
Six Flags Great Adventure’s waterpark, located on 45 acres, features more than 20 high-speed thrill slides, a family water playground, a million-gallon wave pool and a half-mile-long lazy river. King Cobra is scheduled to open in lieu of the Dive Bomber drop capsule.
Polin is a world leader in the aquatic industry. Founded in Istanbul, Turkey in 1976, the company has developed a wide-range of water-slides and water related equipments, and delivered around 1500 rides worldwide. Recently, Polin also developed the new technology of resin transfer moulding (RTM) for the production of their attractions, and is the first European manufacturer to master this technique.
