LEGOLAND Windsor Resort to Open a LEGO themed

Hotel and a Star Wars Miniland Experience

Update : 20:15 Published by François Mayné the 25 January 2012, New.
LEGOLAND Windsor Resort, which celebrated its 15th anniversary last year with the opening of Atlantis Submarine Voyage, is expanding in 2012 with the opening of a 150-room themed hotel and a new Star Wars Miniland Experience.

Located just steps from the park entrance in a tranquil location bording a lake, this hotel has been designed especially for families. It features numerous references to the LEGO universe, including the architecture of the building which imitates the style of LEGO bricks. LEGO universe will also be very present in the interior decoration, as well as in themed Pirates, Kingdom and Adventure bedrooms.

Among the services available, parents and their children will enjoy a restaurant (buffet), a bar, a shop, play areas, a LEGO Pirates themed splash pool, outdoor lakeside seating area and entertainments.

LEGOLAND Windsor also announced the addition of Star Wars experience to the existing Miniland area where visitors can walk among LEGO models of famous european and american places and monuments. This extension will be built indoor, unlike that which opened in 2011 at LEGOLAND California. It will recreate seven of the most famous scenes – six from the beloved Star Wars films and one from the smash hit animated series: Star Wars: The Clone Wars, using around 1.5 million LEGO bricks.

Planned in close consultation with Lucasfilm Ltd, Star Wars Miniland will follow a chronological path through the Star Wars timeline and feature around 2,000 LEGO models in 1:20 scale from the planets Naboo, Geonosis, Kashyyyk, Mustafar, Tatooine, Hoth, Endor and Christophsis. Created by dozens of model designers and builders, landscapers, animation electricians and technicians, the area will also feature authentic Star Wars sounds, actions and lighting effects further immersing visitors into the Star Wars saga and bringing the experience to life.

Sue Kemp  Divisional Director of LEGOLAND Windsor Resort commented, “We are delighted to have Star Wars as a permanent part of LEGOLAND, having successfully tested the water with our extremely popular Star Wars events. The Saga’s universal story about the battle between good and evil has transfixed adults and children over many decades and we expect it to be phenomenally popular with our visitors of all ages.

The 2012 season of LEGOLAND Windsor Resort will begin on Saturday March 17. For more information, visit www.legoland.co.uk
