La Ronde unveils Vol Ultime, an extreme tower ride
for its 45th birthday
Update : 08/02/13 - 17h18Published by François Mayné the 23 January 2012, New.
La Ronde, located on Saint Helen's Island in Montreal, Quebec, announced last week the opening of a new attraction : Vol Ultime (Ultimate Flight in French).
This flying chairs tower ride, a Star Flyer from Funtime Australian manufacturer, will be similar to the SkyScreamer opened in other Six Flags amusement parks in 2011. The tower will be 45 meters (147 feet) high and equipped with 16 seats flying and rotating at the maximum speed of 60 km/h (37 mph) over a diameter of about 30 meters (98 feet). Each seat will carry two passengers, for a capacity of 32 persons per ride.
Vol Ultime, which the graphic style of the logo also draws on SkyScreamer, will be built close to the Disco Ronde and Vertigo attractions. It will give visitors a breathtaking view of the park, the city of Montreal and its surroundings.
Phil Liggett, president of La Ronde, said: “We are very excited to introduce a new ride that families can experience and enjoy together. This new addition strengthens La Ronde’s position as the family entertainment destination of choice in Quebec. "
The promotion campaign of Vol Ultime started on La Ronde website and Facebook page where an application has been launched. This allows fans to virtually ride the attraction via a system of photo collage. A random draw will take place with season pass to win for the participants.
New logo
La Ronde is celebrating its 45th anniversary in 2012, and marks the celebration with a brand new logo!
A bouquet of fireworks that pays tribute to the International des Feux Loto-Québec presented by TELUS juts out over the roller coasters that are La Ronde’s main attraction: the rides. The fireworks and the rides also symbolize the magic, adrenaline and excitement found at La Ronde, a unique attraction in Québec. The chosen typography emphasizes the playful character of La Ronde.
