More than 2.7 million visitors for the Plopsa parks
The Belgian Plopsa Group, which manages five amusement parks in Europe, announced a total attendance of over 2.7 million visitors in 2011. A more than satisfactory result for the company that said at the same time it would spend more than 35 million € investment in 2012.
In Belgium, Plopsaland De Panne has confirmed its position as the first theme park of the country by welcoming more than 1.245 million visitors, an increase of 10% compared to 2010 (1.1 million). "This performance is continues for several seasons, and this is a remarkable growth!" explains Samia Moujane, marketing manager for France and Wallonia. "The park reaps the benefits of its dynamic development and innovations. In 2011, the covered Mayaland area was a great success ! The park attracts more and more visitors thanks to its various attractions, service quality and beauty of the location."
Plopsa Indoor Hasselt, the only themed indoor park in Belgium, had a good season with 325,000 visitors while Plopsa Coo, located in the belgian Ardennes, has attracted more than 370. 000 visitors, an attendance unchanged from last year. Samia Moujane comments: "We have launched "Vicky The Ride", a family Spining Coaster themed around the characters of the cartoon "Vic the Viking". This attraction has cost 3.5 million euros, the largest investment made in Plopsa Coo at this date!".
For its second year of operation, Plopsa Indoor Coevorden in the Netherlands also had a good season, with 270,000 visitors. Finally, Holiday Park - home to the famous Expedition Ge Force rollercoaster and the first acquisition of the group in Germany - welcomed more than 565,000 visitors, an impressive increase of 30% compared to 2010!
Projects are more and more ambitious
The 35 million euros investment announced for 2012 will be concentrated in Plopsaland De Panne and Holiday Park.
Plopsaland will begin next winter two major projects whose declared objectives are to make the park a short stay destination in the medium term. Nearly 25 million euros will be spent on opening a 80 rooms hotel and a 3500 sqm subtropical swimming pool with a capacity of 1000 people. Visitors will enjoy a 25-meter pool, several slides, a children's area and a wellness center. Both of these projects will be themed with the characters of Studio 100.
Holiday Park is going to benefit of a new entrance, a main street and an area of family attractions themed with Maya the Bee, all for a total budget of 9 million euros. Two attractions will be delivered by Zierer Rides like Mayaland: a Flying Fish carousel (flowers) and a Kontiki (tree trunk).
Finally, Plopsa Coo and Plopsa Indoor Coevorden will both invest 500,000 euros. The first will build a new snack and refurbish an existing water ride with a Maya the Bee theming, while the second will open in early 2013 an outdoor extension with multiple attractions.
Samia Moujane concludes: "The results of Plopsa parks are very satisfactory for us, with a continuous development despite the current economic situation and the uncertainties of the weather." No doubt they will continue to evolve in 2012!
