Aussie World's first water ride, The Plunge

Tourism operators are embracing the "renaissance of the industry" with a variety of million dollar projects opening just in time for the Christmas holidays.

Aussie World unveiled its latest commitment to the region yesterday in the form of The Plunge, its first water ride and part of a $2 million investment and expansion program.

It follows the opening of two other rides earlier this year, the Redback and the Giant Slide.

Aussie World general manager David Thompson said their optimistic plans had paid off over the past six months. "It's our first touch of water on the Sunshine Coast for a ride," Mr Thompson said. "We've continued to invest in a tough market and its paid dividends. We've been very optimistic about what we've done and it has shown off. The results over six months have proved it."

Aussie World is currently building an authentic Australian play area, expected to open in February.
