Dark ride and animatronics producer Sally Corporation has selected David Ciciora as the company’s new director of ride systems.
Ciciora began his career in the amusement park industry at Legoland California in 1998, after serving fifteen years in the U.S. Navy (primarily aboard nuclear submarines). Following five years as ride supervisor at Legoland, Ciciora became manager of ride maintenance for the Morey organization in Wildwood, New Jersey, before being named director of maintenance for Hard Rock Park in Myrtle Beach. With the economic downturn and closing of Hard Rock Park, Ciciora transitioned to the West Coast to join the team at Universal Studios Hollywood.
“Much as I enjoyed working at Universal, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to come to Sally,” says Ciciora. “I’ve worked with the Sally team on dark rides over the years, and appreciate the quality and dedication they bring to each project. The scope of upcoming projects is wide, and the company is moving forward on several fronts, technically. I’m looking forward to the challenges.”
“David has a depth of knowledge and expertise in electronics and ride system technology, plus the experience of being the end user of Sally’s rides and animatronics, that makes him a perfect fit for us, ” says Sally Corporation CEO John Wood. “When our long-time vice president of technical services, Ray Dominey, decided to retire from the industry, David’s name came up immediately. ”
Ciciora and his family, wife Jody and three children, have moved to Florida and are residing in Orange Park, just outside Jacksonville.
