A Smurfs Theme Park in project at Chendgu, China

Already revealed last year by the Wall Street Journal via the real estate consulting company DTZ, the project of a theme park inspired by the world of the Smurfs made the news again in the Chinese media this week.

This park should be created in the city of Chendgu (south-western of Sichuan province) in the next 3 to 5 years and would cost around 20 billion yuan or 2.27 billion euros. It will be developed by the consortium Teda Chengdu Sino-Europe Construction Co., Ltd in collaboration with IMPS (International Merchandising, Promotion & Services sa), the Belgian company that owns the rights of the famous little blue men created by Peyo in 1958. Nearly 10 million visitors are expected for the first year of operation.

The Smurfs soon in a Chinese theme park?

The Smurfs have recently returned to the giant screens with the release of an animated 3D movie that has already gained more than 459 million USD (€ 333 million) in revenue worldwide. The movie was also released in China where he received a great success.
