Sally Interactive Dark Rides for New Legoland Parks
Lost Kingdom Adventure Set for Florida & Malaysia
Update : 15/09/11 - 00h14Published by François Mayné the 13 September 2011, New.
Following several years of successful operation at LEGOLAND California and LEGOLAND Windsor, Sally Corporation is now ready to open the Lost Kingdom Adventure interactive dark ride (known as Laser Raiders in Windsor) at LEGOLAND Florida and LEGOLAND Malaysia.
Designed specifically on behalf of Merlin Entertainments, Lost Kingdom Adventure dark ride takes visitors on the sets of an Egyptian temple to meet the LEGO character Johnny Thunder from the "LEGO Adventurers" series. With LEGO-style themed jeeps, they accompany Johnny Thunder advantage to the rescue of a journalist (Pippin Reed) trapped by the villain Sir Sam Sinister, all assisted by Professor Kilroy... names that speak to the small bricks aficionados! In addition, they will also prevent the villain to steal the treasure of the temple, all with a laser blaster... because the purpose of the game is - of course - to shoot targets spread throughout the ride, and get the greatest number of points at the end!
With an area of approximately 650 m² in black light, the ride is divided into 10 scenes where interact some LEGO animatronics, including Pippin Reed trapped in a spider's web, Professor Kilroy in his archaeological laboratory or a group of skeletons playing music! In addition to the targets shooting, several elements complete the ride including the fall of a stack of crates and explosions...
Sally ensures that the two future dark rides will have some new surprises! Not to mention the famous and traditional "secret target" that allows the player who shoot them to earn extra bonus points. Ray Dominey, Sally Corporation’s vice-president of technical services, installed the secret bonus target as an exciting added surprise for guests. “When a guest hits the special bonus target, an additional 7,007 points will show up on their score,” Dominey says. “When you see the final number, seven, on the console, you know you hit it: every other target score ends in zero. There are ninety targets in the ride, and there’s no way to tell which is the special one—until you hit it.”
Based on the client’s experience at the California and Windsor parks, the two new rides have an increased capacity of over 1,000 people per hour; each operating with seventeen four-seater custom Jeep ride cars from Bertazzon . Each can accommodate four people seated in two rows and are equipped with individual laser blasters and scoring consoles.
“The rides feature some of Lego’s most popular characters, and are fun and not too scary for young children,” says Legoland Senior Project Director Ian Sarjeant. “They have proven to be very popular at both the California and Windsor parks: Incorporating the ride into our new parks was an easy decision. ”
Lost Kingdom Adventure will open at LEGOLAND Florida in mid-october and in LEGOLAND Malaysia in 2012.
