Last week, Efteling has officially launched the construction of Aquanura by signing the contract with US firm WET (Water Entertainment Technologies) specialized in the design and installation of fountains.
Main novelty of the 60th anniversary of the park, Aquanura will be the biggest show of fountains in Europe and the 3rd in the world . The fountain will be placed in the center of the lake bordering the Vonderplas (park entrance) and the Fata Morgana dark ride.
For an investment of 17 million EUR (about 24.6 million USD), Aquanura will combine overpowering fountains, flames, lighting effects (especially via the backlight of the water jets) and music. The show will last 10 minutes and will be presented every night at the park closure. In the future, the facility can be programmed for other productions.
The chairman of the board of Efteling, Bart de Boer, said he was enthusiastic about the cooperation with WET, stating: "60 years is a milestone we want to celebrate with all our visitors every evening. Since 59 years, Efteling guarantees the best childhood memories, Aquanura will be next! "
WET has a great experience in designing water fountains and has developed a technology that created the two most impressive facilities in the world: the famous Fountains of Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas (USA) and The Dubai Fountain in the UAE.
The CEO of WET, Mark Fuller said: "I am excited to see this project coming true. Together with Efteling, we will achieve in one year only one of the three largest fountains in the world. The Efteling touch added to our design will be unprecedented. We are pleased to be part of this historic moment. "
