160 children will visit Disneyland Paris as part of the
The fourth edition of the Journées Soif de Vivre event will be held on 24, 25 and 26 June 2011, and this year’s festivities will take place in the heart of Disneyland Paris. Disney’s Community Relations team, which has partnered on this event for the last three years, is again ready to create many magical moments for children.
Journées Soif de Vivre events for children
A group of committed men and women have been organising annual Journées Soif de Vivre events over the last four years. These events allow children suffering from serious or rare illnesses to put their difficulties aside during an extraordinary weekend. After previous events being held in Albi and Marseilles, this year’s festivities will take place at Disneyland Paris. This year 160 children from eleven French hospitals will participate in a three-day event.
Creating unforgettable memories
A host of exceptional and exciting events await the children, including trips on Harley Davidson motorbikes, hot air balloon rides, demonstrations by RAID and GSPR [elite French security forces] and a castle flyover by the Patrouille de France [the French air force’s display team].
The presence of celebrities will help make these moments ever more magical. As official patron, Nikos Alliagas will symbolically open this year’s Journées Soif de Vivre event before welcoming the children and patrons from previous years including Jean Alesi and Didier Deschamps who will arrive in a Formula 1 car .
Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and many other Disney characters will be accompanied by Disney VoluntEARS as they entertain children throughout the weekend at workshops including balloon sculpting and face painting as well as taking souvenir photos. The afternoon will feature a performance of “Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show… with Mickey and Friends” and demonstrations of Native American dances and lasso throwing.
The marvellous day will end with a dinner show, presented by Cyril Hanouna and Bruno Roblès, featuring performance by singers including the cast of the musical “Dracula”.
A magical Sunday
The magic never ends at Disneyland Paris, and the children will spend their Sunday in Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park. The Community Relations team and the Disney VoluntEARS will then unwrap a day of festivities including a private preview of Disney•PIXAR’s Car’s 2, meetings with favourite Disney characters, attraction experiences and a show featuring Peter Pan.
A long-standing partnership
For nearly twenty years Disneyland Paris has been dedicated to outreach work focusing on fulfilling wishes for children with serious illnesses, sharing magic with them by welcoming special visits by the children to its theme parks or by bringing Disney characters to visit children in hospitals and centres. As a partner for the last three years in the annual Journées Soif de Vivre events, Disneyland Paris is very pleased to partner again in this year’s operation.
About the Journées Soif de Vivre operation
Created in 2008 by Yann Crouzat with the support of Melinda Noël, Journées Soif de Vivre offers unforgettable experiences to children with serious or rare illnesses. During the previous events held in Albi and Marseilles, children visited an aircraft carrier and a car racetrack, met the players from the Olympique de Marseille football team, attended the premiere of the “Mozart l’Opéra Rock” show and visited the studios where the “Plus belle la vie” television series is filmed.
