What's new at EAS 2013? Special Theme Park
Supplier's News of the Week
Update : 17:39Published by François Mayné the 15 September 2013, New.
As the Euro Attractions Show 2013 is about to start at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles exhibition center in France, NewsParcs publishes today a special Theme Park Supplier's News of the Week giving a preview of what attendees can expect to see on the show floor.
Of course, considering the fact that there will be more than 390 exhibitors on a record exhibit space, we had to make a choice between the suppliers. The selection that we present below is thus a non-exhaustive list of what's new to see at EAS 2013.
In a recent interview we conducted with IAAPA's Vice President of European Operations Karen Staley, she highlighted some of the trendy products that will be showcased this year on the show floor. "We are seeing more 4D / 5D theaters, theming aspects and in general more interactive products for park guests. We are also seeing an emergence of more water park products as well as a greater diversity among playground structures," she said.
Interactive experiences, 3D/4D contents and media-based attractions are actually well represented on the EAS show floor as they offer a new kind of entertainment for all attractions owners and operators, whatever the size of their facilities or their budget.
Attendees who drop by Alterface's booth (#1029) will get a glimpse of their new interactive dark ride concept 'GameRide' along with their interactive theming technology, both hidden inside the company's large orange cube. Projectiondesign (booth #1547) will present together with its partner Holovis the new immersive and interactive platform 'MotionDome™' that was developed especially for creating gaming or dark ride transformative experiences in 2D or 3D. As for Attraktion! (booth #2106), the Austrian company will display 'PLAYOKE Dance', an interactive dance game using 3D group motion tracking.
Another media-based attraction concept will be showcased by HUSS Park Attractions (booth #1622): 'EXPLORER', a family ride combining an observation tower with an audio visual system and sensory elements. One World Studio (booth #829) will introduce, for its part, a similar experience named 'HORAO 360': an indoor panorama ride that combines a rising spinning platform and a 360° projection system.
Still in the interactive contents, Triotech (booth #1519) will underline its new 'IDR' (Interactive Dark Ride) concept for which the company has recently signed with Canada's Wonderland. As for traditional 3-D contents, nWave Pictures (booth #716) will showcase a new ride simulation film named 'Space Chase' and promote the recent acquisition of the worldwide giant screen distribution rights of 'Galapagos 3D'.
If high-technology is becoming more and more important among the products proposed by the suppliers, they should not forget that classic amusement rides are still a sure investment for the operators. Zamperla (booth #1201) is for instance promoting its new family water ride 'Water Mania' as well as its large range of kiddie/family/thrill rides for which it has a lot of success, especially with French parks. KMG (booth #1229) will discuss its best-selling rides and newest concepts such as 'Sicko' or 'XLR8' while SBF/Visa Group will introduce its new 'Maxi Dance Party 360' pendulum ride.
Companies specializing in theming will also compete in originality to showcase their design expertise and technical know-how. Theming and Animatronics Industries (booth #1525) is bringing its massive wood catapult already seen last year in Berlin and Orlando while Neverland Themepark Projects (booth #1043) and P&P Projects (booth #1133) are introducing a brand new design for their booths. Jora Vision (booth #533) will exhibit along with Jora Entertainment (booth #534), its subsidiary specialized in show production.
As for the emergence of products for water parks, the market will be well represented with the presence of all major suppliers including Polin (booth #422), ProSlide Technology (booth #1537), WhiteWater West Industries (booth #1012), Vortex Aquatic Structures (booth #220), Zebec (booth #709) and American Wave Machine (booth #1066).
Finally, all the leading roller coaster manufacturers will also be part of the show in Paris, starting with Bolliger & Mabillard (booth #1729) which will be back at EAS after a few years hiatus. Each company will highlight its recent or future projects in Europe, notably MACK Rides (booth #1512) with their first suspended powered coaster currently under construction at Europa-Park or Premier Rides (booth #1509) which won a major contract to supply a launch coaster to Holiday Park in Germany.
A lot of French companies are exhibiting this year, which is rather logical considering the location of the trade show. Among the 44 which make the trip, attendees will recognize some well-known names of the industry such as Aérophile (booth #1516) that will promote its newest attraction: 'Aerobar', the world's first aerial bar.
EAS 2013 will also welcome 84 first-time exhibitors including Cruden (booth #2101), Dippin' Dots (booth #136), IDEATTACK (booth #1352), Rocas Theming Factory (booth #1063), Delta Strike International (booth #461), Rain Drop Products (booth #2303) and Universal Space Amusement (booth #121).
To sum up, more than one hundred categories of products and services will be showcased in Paris, from animatronics (Sally Corporation, booth #1209) to master planning and project management (Jack Rouse Associates, booth #1705), ride systems (ETF Ride Systems, booth #1703) indoor play equipments (IPLAYCO, booth #1450), virtual queuing technologies (Lo-Q, booth #1733), AV systems integration (Electrosonic, booth #1253), flying theaters (Simtec, booth #1529), admission and ticketing systems (Gateway Ticketing Systems, booth #1801), food & beverages, redemption games, inflatables and many more.
As a supporting publication of the trade show for the second consecutive year, NewsParcs will do a full coverage of the event.
