The promoter Ilyas & Mustafa Galadari Group (IMG Group), which is building the future indoor amusement park IMG Theme Park in Dubai, UAE, has signed a licensing agreement with the company Turner CN Enterprises to bring a Cartoon Network Zone to the project.
The contract provides for the development of attractions, entertainment, shops and restaurants inspired from some of the animated series of the famous television network including 'The Amazing World of Gumball', 'Adventure Time' and 'LazyTown'. Several world premieres will be introduced such as a 5D ride based on the Ben 10 universe. The themed zone will cover an area of approximately 2 hectares (~5 acres) out of the 11 (~27) of the future complex.
This is the second partnership formalized by the promoter after the announcement in June 2012 of the arrival of a MARVEL Adventure zone in collaboration with Marvel Entertainment, a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company. The park, whose artistic design was entrusted to Falcon's Treehouse, will be divided into four themed zones.
“We are very pleased to partner with Turner CN Enterprises. The launch of the Cartoon Network Zone will position us as the key theme park operator in the region." said Ilyas and Mustafa Galadari, the owners of IMG Group. “IMG Theme Park will pride itself on family entertainment and with the addition of the largest entertainment brand, Cartoon Network; we elevate our continuous dedication in bringing a value-added experience for all our visitors.”
“We are delighted to partner with IMG Group to bring the much-loved family of characters from the Cartoon Network stable to life,” said Alan Fenwick, VP Turner CN Enterprises. “We are very excited about the themed attractions and live events. IMG Group, along with design agency Falcon’s Treehouse, have consistently demonstrated a wonderful knowledge of our brands in developing innovative and immersive brand experiences we know our fans and the world will love.”
Alan Musa, General Manager & VP, Turner Broadcasting Systems – Arabia, added, “The Middle East is fast becoming a major international destination for family tourism and the IMG Theme Park in Dubai is a concentrated hub of high-octane entertainment. The park will be fully supported by the Cartoon Network Arabic TV channel and web site – both of which have grown considerably in terms of fans throughout the Middle East since being launched in October 2010.”
When it will open, the IMG Theme Park will be the largest indoor entertainment destination in the world. The IMG Group expects to attract over 10,000 visitors per day. It also believes that the property will generate a significant increase in demand of tourist accommodation near the site which is located in City of Arabia, one of the components of the Dubailand project.
