One World Studio designs its first Family
Entertainment Center in Lebanon
Update : 29/09/12 - 11h01Published by François Mayné the 28 September 2012, New.
The German company One World Studio (OWS), specializing in creative design development and project management for the attractions industry, has completed its first project for a large Lebanese group.
They entrusted OWS the task of designing the themes and the overall plan of a family entertainment center with the aim of developing a franchise throughout the Middle East. Named Up & Away (originally LaLa Land), the first FEC opened its doors a few days ago at The Mall Debayeh, a shopping mall located in the heart of the capital Beirut.
The project of Up & Away has requested 8 months of work - 3 for the concept phase and 5 for the production - for an investment of €1.5 million (approx $1.9 million). The center offers 1,500 sqm (16,145 sqft) of activities for young children (from 1 to 11 years) including a hair salon & spa for girls, a barber shop for boys, a photo studio, a room for art and craft, a bumper bikes ride, a kids tattoo studio, two playgrounds, games and a video arcade area.
A quiet zone is especially devoted to adults and there is also a coffee shop, a merchandise shop and a room for organizing birthday parties that can be converted into a small theater or a venue for special events. The visit duration is about 2 hours and the center can accommodate 350 children at the same time.
Olaf Mordelt, CEO of One World Studios, stated : “We are very proud to have been given the chance to innovate on the classical FEC concepts. With Up & Away, we are starting the ‘new era’ of themed indoor centers, adding a brand new touch to fun venues for children”
He added : “During thedevelopment of this project, it was necessary for One World Studio to consider cultural specific aspects, as well as new additions to the already popular children attractions. Alternative, new special ideas were createdwhile keeping it economical and interesting for the operators of the venue. The successful Integration of the refined theming of the FEC, as well as fitting it into the already existing and complicated building structure, will definitively receive international attention and recognition.”
Berlin-based, One World Studio started early 2011 after the Mordelt family (the founders of Heimo brand in the 40s) decided to refocus their consulting activities and artistic design under a new label. The company is today divided into four departments: design, management, model and production. It offers turnkey solutions for the markets of amusement parks, FEC and other leisure venues.
One World Studio will exhibit at the upcoming Euro Attractions Show 2012 in Berlin from October 9 to 11 (booth #1209, Hall 21). For more information about the company, see our related articles below or visit www.oneworldstudio.de
