Neptune~Benson, Inc., leading manufacturer of commercial pool filtration systems, announced today that they have signed Brad Weir as the Australian representative for their award-winning Defender® Regenerative Media Filters.
He spent his last 25 years working in a variety of service and manufacturing roles within the Aquatics industry including 16 years as Joint Owner and Director of Hurlcon Pty Ltd. He is also a licensed plumber and swimming pool builder and owned his own plumbing business (Prime Plumbing) in Sydney for a number of years being heavily involved in the Swimming Pool industry. In the early 90’s, Brad served as president of SPASA NSW.
More recently, Brad has been working as a consultant to local builders as well as a contractor where he was responsible for upgrading the filtration equipment at the Shangri-La Hotel pool & spa, Sydney. Brad many years of experience have honed his skills and prepared him to help pool and waterpark operators address the challenges and regulations that they face within the Australian market.
“We are thrilled to have Brad on board”, said Michael Turner, Neptune-Benson’s Vice President of International Business Development. “The success we are having with the Defender filter at some of Australia’s most prestigious aquatic installations has really spurred-on our momentum in the region. Having a qualified representative on the continent will be an invaluable asset in helping us serve the many new customers who are gravitating towards Defender’s industry-leading technology.”
Defender has proven its worth at a number of noted facilities in Australia including the State Aquatic Centre in Marion, South Australia as well as a number of other more recent installations:
· Adventure World, Briba Lake, Western Australia
· Canning Aquatic Centre, Canning, Western Australia
· Griffith University, South Brisbane, Queensland
· Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Queensland
· University of Queensland, St. Lucia, Queensland
The Defender filter is quickly becoming the benchmark of excellence in Australia both for its ability to produce superior water quality as well as the many operational and environmental benefits that it provides. Defender removes particles as small as 1 micron, creating the cleanest, healthiest and “fastest” water available. The filter provides a number of significant sustainability advantages as well, eliminating over 90% of the water waste associated with traditional sand filters or other “ultra fine filters” that require regular backwashing.
In consideration of the dire water shortages that plague much of Australia, the Defender represents a responsible choice for conserving this precious natural resource. By reducing waste associated with water and chemical loss as well as electrical use and construction savings, the Defender filter offers considerable economic and operational advantages as well.
