New Sally Corporation 3D interactive dark ride set

for Warner Bros. Movie World in Australia

Update : 28/06/12 - 19h48 Published by François Mayné the 26 June 2012, New.

The Australian theme park Warner Bros. Movie World, located in Gold Coast nearby Brisbane, has been working for several months in the utmost secrecy on a new multimedia ride which it has just revealed the type, content and name: Justice League: Alien Invasion 3D.

This will be a 3D interactive dark ride themed with superheroes and vilains from the DC Comics universe which realization was entrusted to the U.S. company Sally Corporation specializing in this type of attractions as well as in the design and production of animatronics.

Built in a building of 2,000 sqm (about 21,530 sq ft), the 5 minutes ride will incorporate on a course of 197 meters long numerous special effects, 18 animatronics and 3D projections on 8 screens (including a smoke screen). Twenty custom vehicles will be equipped with special laser optical blasters that will interact with 105 real targets (scattered in the sets) and between 200 to 300 virtual targets on the screens. Each player will see his own score on individual screens installed on board.

Imaginated specifically for the park in cooperation with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and DC Entertainment, the ride will invite visitors to come and defend the planet against an alien invasion alongside the famous characters that form the Justice League including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Supergirl and Cyborg.

When the visitors will enter in the building themed as Hall of Justice, they will be immediately immersed in the story of the alien attack via a "live" newscast anchored by the reporter Vicki Vale, who will urge them to take shelter at Justice League embassies worldwide, and to help defend Earth against the alien threat. Passing through a high-tech scanning device into the pre-show area, guests will then discover the impressive animatronic Cyborg in his test lab, and Batman beaming in from the Justice League Watchtower Command Center, in orbit around the Earth. Once aboard their custom tactical assault vehicles with their 3D glasses, riders will be teleported into the dark streets of Gotham City and will enter in an epic battle that will culminate in a dramatic struggle between Superman and the evil villain, in which they will play a decisive role...

For this project, Sally Corporation works with an experienced international team which included the Belgian company Alterface specializing in interactive multimedia systems, the Californian digital animation studio Threshold Animation Studios and the Italian manufacturer Bertazzon (vehicles) among many other companies such as Bose (audio equipment), Techni-Lux (light), RealID, MSI Design, Inc. or Sculpt Studios Australia.

"Our goal was to create a ride based on the Justice League heroes that could be a fun and exciting experience not only for hardcore fans of the franchise, but also those not so familiar with the characters," says Sally Corporation CEO John Wood. "There's a lot of action and interaction throughout the ride, and you're immersed in the experience. There are full-scale three-dimensional sets, scenery, animatronics and special effects throughout, and blended into the city streets and spaceship interiors are high-definition CGI animated sets and characters...allowing us to take the action to new heights."

Tim Fisher, chief executive officer of Village Roadshow Theme Parks, owner of Warner Bros. Movie World, says, "Justice League: Alien Invasion 3D is the perfect fit for this park as it combines the hugely popular DC Entertainment Justice League franchise with a ride jam-packed with action and 3D thrills the whole family will love."

Founded in 1977 and based in Jacksonville (Florida, USA), Sally Corporation's rides have received a lot of awards from industry associations as well as from the people who ride the rides: amusement parks enthusiasts. The company is well known for its interactive dark rides such as Challenge of Tutankhamon at Walibi Belgium, El Laberinto del Minotauro at Terra Mitica (Spain), La Aventura de Scooby-Doo at Parque Warner Madrid (Spain) or the Lost Adventure Kingdom rides in several LEGOLAND theme parks worldwide (the next one is set to open in Malaysia at the end of the year).

Justice League: Alien Invasion 3D will open its doors in next September for the beginning of the Australian summer season. Its cost was announced about $9 million (approximately €7.2 million)
