Cinéscénie celebrates its 35th anniversary

at Puy du Fou

Update : 19:34 Published by François Mayné the 19 April 2012, New.
From June 9, Puy du Fou will present the 35th season of Cinéscénie, the world’s largest night show applauded by more than 10 million spectators and awarded together with the park in 2011 by the prestigious Thea Classic Award.

This anniversary will be celebrated with several enhancements, new special effects as well as two scenes modified. Puy du Fou will introduce the mapping video technology on the castle facade with a system combining 14 HD videoprojectors linked together by 750 meters (about 2.460 feet) of fiber optics and managed by a wireless touch pad.

The two re-stagings have required about a dozen hours of rehearsals while more than 250 new costumes have been designed. New special effects will include what the park calls "drums of fire" which will be 40 on stage. Puy du Fou also asked American compositor Nick Glennie-Smith to create two new songs for these scenes. He worked with Galician musician Carlos Nuñez and the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, the musics have been mixed in a 12.1 format to immerse spectators in the heart of the show. French actor Gérard Depardieu also joins the cast of the voiceovers.

Presented in front of an audience of 14.000 spectators, Cinéscénie staged each summer more than 3.200 volunteers including at each performance 1.200 actors, 120 riders, 80 technicians and 400 persons for welcoming and safety. Cinéscénie requires about 24.000 costumes, 800 pieces of fireworks (at every performance), 150 fountains and 2.500 spotlights.

Puy du Fou opens this season a new themed area for children and families inspired by the Fables of Jean de la Fontaine.
