Disneyland Paris to launch Disney's Friends for

Change workshops

Update : 17:40 Published by François Mayné the 2 November 2011, Miscellaneous.

Throughout the coming school year, the teams in Community Relations at Disneyland Paris and La Maison de l’Environnement will jointly host a series of fun, educational workshops to raise kids’ awareness of environmental protection.

Disney’s Friends for Change – a worldwide programme

Disney is giving kids who are interested in doing something for the planet the opportunity to become stewards for change because it is convinced that even the smallest of actions can add up to big changes. Disney’s Friends for Change is a worldwide programme run by The Walt Disney Company throughout 2011. The programme encourages kids, friends and family members to join together in creating lasting positive change in their world and to be better global citizens.

More than two million pledges have already been made by kids around the world during Disney’s Friends for Change workshops and via the dedicated website that relays these events.

A local partner

Disneyland Paris has partnered for over twenty years in the development of the land on which it is located. In achieving this, Disneyland Paris regularly collaborates with local authorities and bodies from Val d’Europe and the Seine-et-Marne region in a great number of events. Naturally, Disneyland Paris wanted local children to benefit from this operation – children from the local towns which the company has accompanied for many years. La Maison de l’Environnement de Seine-et-Marne was a logical choice because of its special expertise.

Busy afternoons

To present a series of season-themed workshops that will raise kids’ awareness of environmental protection, the team from Disneyland Paris Community Relations and its Disney VoluntEARS will work together with their partners from La Maison de l’Environnement de Seine-et-Marne. Invited children will be from the local towns of Esbly, Bailly-Romainvilliers and Villeneuve-le-Comte.

In groups of 30, the youngsters aged from 6- to 11-years old will learn about recycling in autumn, climate in winter, environment in spring and water in summer. The 3-hour sessions will enable each child to discover and understand the principles of sustainable development before applying them in games. To reinforce their learning, all 90 children who took part in the programme will be invited to Disney’s Davy Crockett Ranch to work on a joint project at the end of the year.
