Efteling announced today a further postponement of the opening of Hartenhof, the Jubileum attraction that was supposed to be the big event of the 60th anniversary of the park in 2012. Officially, the park release says that "the plans are more ambitious now" and that the opening will not happen before 2015.
A few months ago, a first postponement was announced for 2013 "to refine the project". To replace it, the park decided to open another jubileum attraction: the water fountains show "Aquanura" (see our previous article below) for an investment of 17 million euros.
The mystery remains over the content of Hartenhof. Because even if we know it will be a dark ride themed on the universe of Pardoes (the Efteling main character), and even if the first clues were talking about a possible Vekoma's Pandora Box ride, it is possible that the entire attraction will be re-examined and will not correspond to what has been revealed so far.
New restaurant: Polles Keuken
Hartenhof will be the main element of a new themed area called "Rijk der Fantasie" (the Kingdom of the Fantasy) whose investment is estimated around 42.5 million euros. The land will be a representation of the kingdom of Pardoes.
The first phase of this project is still planned to open in 2012. This includes the opening of a catering complex, "Polles Keuken" which will be divided into several parts: a pancakes restaurant of 140 seats, a covered terrace of 60 seats, and three counters for icecreams, coffees and donuts. All inspired by the style of Anton Pieck and future television series "Pardoes, the tovernar", with thatched roof and the use of many objects of copper.
The construction is progressing well, you can follow the work site on Eftelist.
